Research into the optimal design for ocean wave energy converters is set to enter the next phase thanks to a partnership between Perth-based Bombora Wave Power and the Australian Maritime College.
Bombora Wave Power, a GE Ecomagination 2013 recipient and previous finalists in WA’s Innovator of the Year and semi-finalist of the Australian Clean Technologies Competition 2013, announces that it has successfully closed its seed capital funding round.
Bombora placed as a finalist in the 2013 Mitsubishi Innovator of the Year Awards. Bombora would like to congratulate Curtin University on winning out the overall winner of the Mitsubishi Western Australian Innovator of the Year Award.

The Directors of Bombora Wave Power Pty Ltd, Mr. Glen Ryan and Mr Shawn Ryan, today announced that their novel Wave Energy Converter Device (WECD) has been declared one of five winners of GE’s first Ecomagination ANZ Challenge. Bombora was presented its award by Jeff Immelt, GE Chairman and CEO in Sydney on the 19th of March. Bombora will receive $100,000 in recognition of its innovative and entrepreneurial idea.
